Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

NWPHYD003 - Develop and maintain ratings

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Develop rating curves

  1. Analyse existing measurements to establish trends and compare with existing ratings
  2. Identify events at monitoring site that can affect stage discharge curve
  3. Identify sources of error in ratings
  4. Confirm and verify existing trends whilst developing rating curves
  5. Identify and define new trends whilst developing rating curves
  6. Develop rating curves in compliance with industry and stakeholder requirements
  7. Use theoretical methods to create and extend ratings
  8. Document processes and observations to provide traceability and accountability for quality assurance
  9. Apply standard formulae to create ratings for pre-calibrated measuring structures
  10. Apply quality codes to rating curves utilising workplace procedures and stakeholder requirements
